Lubbock Educators Association also represents teachers on a local level.  We were

the only organization to take a salary proposal to Superintendent Havens during the summer.  LEA’s proposal included $500 more across-the-board for all levels of experienced teachers than was being considered.  Our salary proposal was the one approved by the school board.  Every year LEA negotiates for pay raises for educators that more than cover the cost of association dues.  Our members also have access on a local level to a teacher member with more than 20 years experience assisting members with grievances and other problems.  LEA/TSTA/ NEA is the winning combination for the professional educator!

Lubbock Educators Association is proud to be an integral part of TSTA’s effort to secure better salaries, benefits, and rights for today’s public school educators, including our educational support personnel.  TSTA has long been in the forefront of improving the opportunities for Texas children by improving the climate in which teachers work.  Many of the benefits we currently enjoy in our public schools are in place due to the combined efforts of LEA, TSTA, and NEA.  All three of these organizations are vigilant in guaranteeing that no one takes them away from you.  This past spring, more than 20,000 calls were made by TSTA members to successfully block bills detrimental to public education that were being introduced in the Texas Legislature.  The advanced phone system used in this campaign was made possible by $500,000 contributed by NEA to help TSTA fight this bad legislation.  We are actively engaged at this time in preventing this bad legislation from becoming law as riders to the public school finance bill that will be introduced in Austin this spring.  LEA has been signing up new members this fall who have switched from other organizations because they have seen who is most involved in the fight for educators’ rights and public education.  It is imperative that educators and educational support personnel stand together against the attacks on public education at both the state and national level.  Combined with the resources of TSTA/NEA, LEA can made a positive difference.
